As December comes around each year, it is officially the holiday season. With that being said, every year I make it my goal to watch at least one new Holiday movie along with some of my favorite ones. Over the past few years, I have become obsessed with many movies. Here is a list of some of my top movies that you could watch with your family and friends!

1. Elf

This movie is one of my absolute favorites. Buddy, played by Will Farrell, was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a baby and raised as one of Santa’s elves. Unable to realize that he doesn’t fit in, Buddy travels all the way to NY in an elf uniform, for he was in search of his birth father, Walter Hobbs, played by James Caan. Hobbs is a cynical businessman who doesn’t believe that Buddy is his real son until DNA proves it. Then, a mess of chaos breaks out.

2. Grinch

The Grinch and his loyal dog Max, live a solitary existence inside a cave on Mount Crumpet. His main source of aggravation comes during Christmas time when his neighbors in Whoville celebrate the holidays with a bang. When the Grinch realizes that it is just going to get worse, he is determined to steal Christmas.

3. Home Alone

Home Alone is another one of my favorites. In the Home Alone series, 8-year-old Kevin McCallister is greatly forgotten about. The series starts out with the McCallisters accidentally leaving for the airport without Kevin, who then wakes up to an empty house. But, when he realizes that two con men, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, plan to rob the McCallister residence and that he alone must protect the family home, he becomes very excited to show them who is the boss of the house.

4. The Santa Clause

The Santa Clause is another fun series. This one starts out when a divorced dad, Scott, has custody of his son on Christmas Eve. When Scott accidentally kills a man in a Santa suit they are somehow magically transported to the North Pole. When he arrives there, an elf explains that Scott must take Santa’s place before the next Christmas arrives.

5. The Nightmare Before Christmas

This movie follows the misadventures of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown's beloved pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the "real world." When Jack accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, all bright colors and warm spirits, he gets a new lease on life - he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. However, Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry.

6. Trading Places

Upper-crust executive Louis Winthorpe III and down-and-out hustler Billy Ray Valentine are the subjects of a bet by successful brokers Mortimer and Randolph Duke. An employee of the Dukes, Winthorpe, is framed by the brothers for a crime he didn't commit, so the siblings then install the street-smart Valentine in his position. When Winthorpe and Valentine uncover the scheme, they set out to turn the tables on the Dukes.

7. Gremlins

A gadget salesman is looking for a special gift for his son and finds one at a store in Chinatown. The shopkeeper is reluctant to sell him the `mogwai’ but sells it to him with the warning to never expose him to bright light, water, or to feed him after midnight. All of this happens, and the result is a gang of gremlins that decide to tear up the town on Christmas Eve.
