I love fall and winter. The leaves are falling, the fresh smell of pollen, the cold air in the morning when you wake up. Except, that doesn’t exist for me because I live in Los Angeles, California. Although beautiful in summer, when fall rolls around, my city's weather seems to be stuck in time. I want to see trees blossoming, snow falling, and the weather drop below 70 degrees. But I never do. Instead, I watch some of these movies and shows to bring fall and winter to sunny California. Here’s my list of the top 5 best movies and TV shows that make you feel like it’s that time of the year when seasons come.

  1. Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls is a story of a mother and a daughter in a small town in Connecticut, navigating life. This small town, Stars Hallow, is home to the Gilmores and brings the person watching into the family with them. From town events to family outings, this show brings drama in a small town to the big screen and the seasons along with it.

  1.  Knives out

Although a chilling mystery movie, its fall setting brings the season to the movie watcher. The scarves and sweaters and the visible breath in the air are just some of the many aspects of the film that can evoke a feeling of nostalgia for fall itself.

  1. Anne with an E

Set in Canada, in the late 1890’s, this show masterfully creates a fall and winter setting and sets it in time. The beauty of the show is its landscape and the emotions created from it. A tale of a unique girl and her struggles in life, the seasons beautifully assist the show in creating an atmosphere in which seasons evolve all year round.

  1. Autumn in New York

In New York, Autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons. The colorful trees, the constant buzzing of the city, and the earthy smell everywhere you go bring New York City to life. In this movie, a woman meets a man in the midst of the fall. The off-and-on structure of this movie keeps the audience on their toes.

  1. Dead Poets Society

This Movie, set in a boarding school with ancient traditions, is incredibly thrilling. Along with that, it is visually stimulating, with tons of autumn-like sights, such as fiery leaves and crisp air. Overall, this film leaves the watcher nostalgic for fall itself.
