IC is a place where people from all over the world are able to come together over our shared connection of being Jewish, but we are also able to come together and make new friends over smaller things. A defining part of my experience at IC was connecting with other gingers. We had an official ginger meetup and were able to take a group photo similar to ones that were taken of delegations or the press corps. A group chat was also created that grew exponentially during our time there and allowed us to connect as a group.

Other shared connections played a part in my IC experience; one example is my love for music. I went to a Noah Kahan Shabbat Service, Taylor Swift Separates, and participated in a dance class program for my LEADS day. This connection of music allowed me to meet new friends, have enriching experiences, and bond with a group through a shared experience. The power of this shared passion created a space for all of us to connect and have a fulfilling IC experience.

By finding a way to connect with my fellow Alephs and BBGs through small things, I was able to meet more people and have a better experience overall.

Liv is a BBG from Newton, Massachusetts, and loves field hockey.
